Today is a gift
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.His bed was next to the room’s only window.The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.The men talked for hours on end.They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words..Days, weeks and months passed.One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window.. 9 Common ZYM Mistakes
Exercise Mistake #1: Too much socializing, not enough exercising.
“I see a lot of individuals talking with each other in the gym,” says Scott Lucett, director of education for the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a certified personal trainer for more than 15 years. “Next thing they know, an hour has passed and the amount of time they have actually spent exercising is relatively low.” So focus on your workout -- and save the chit-chat for the juice bar.
Exercise Mistake #2: Lack of intensity.
Do you see your gym time as the perfect way to catch up on your reading? Are you leaning on the machines? Lots of people are just going through the motions, even though they may look like they’re working out. “They think that as long as they’re moving, they’re going to lose weight,” Lucett says. “But if the intensity is not at the level that it needs to be at, it’s almost a waste of time.”
In addition to increasing your intensity levels, Peterson also recommends working out for longer periods of time, increasing weights and distance, cross-training, working out on an incline, and maximizing your body weight while working out, by using a weighted vest or ankle weights, for example.
Exercise Mistake #3: Always training in the 'fat burning' heart rate zone.
You’ve seen those charts on the cardiovascular machines that list “zones.” But in the so-called “fat-burning zone,” your training intensity isn’t very high -- usually 65%-70% of your heart rate. Research, however, has shown that the higher the intensity, the more calories you burn -- not only while exercising, but after you leave the gym, when your body benefits from an “after-burn” mode.
“It’s as if you turn off your car engine, but the hood is still warm,” Lucett says. “The same thing happens with the body. You need to make sure that your intensity is higher than that chart.” Unable to work out that hard? Work your way up.
Exercise Mistake #4: Over estimating caloric expenditure.
Don’t let the number on the screen of your cardio machine fool you, either. “That’s a very general number and there are a lot of variables that play into that,” Lucett says. “The machine may say that you’ve expended 500 calories, but you could only be burning 250.”
This can be especially true when you do things to “trick” the machine, like leaning on the bars. Unbeknownst to that computer, which relies on speed and revolutions to calculate calories, you’re offsetting your weight, which means you are significantly decreasing the amount of work you’re doing.
Exercise Mistake #5: Not progressing/changing your program.
When you do the same workout over and over again, the body has no reason to change. “You’ll see an initial loss, but eventually you’ll get to a point of diminishing returns,” Lucett says.
Another challenge, Peterson says, is getting away from the machines and routines that you feel most comfortable with.
“You like the feeling of aerobic exercise, so you don’t do what it takes to maintain your muscle mass, which is the body tissue that burns calories -- the furnace,” he says. “Or you do only strength training, which maintains muscle mass, but you don’t lose weight." Those little string-bean guys who run marathons? They often don’t do anything to ensure the success of the process by, say, engaging in strength training. You have to have a mix.

Those articles that guarantee you can lose fat from your abs or glutes? Forget ‘em, say the experts. “People need to understand that genetics is the primary factor in determining where that body fat comes from,” Lucett says. “Your body is going to take fat from anywhere it wants.” The answer? Just focus on burning calories through a well-balanced training program. You’ll eventually lose the weight from all areas of your body.

Doing an exercise wrong can also lead to injury. “If you get injured, you can’t work out,” Lucett says. “And, if you can’t work out, you won’t be burning calories in the gym.”
The challenge, of course, is knowing when you’re doing something wrong -- especially if you’re relying on techniques from “back in the day.” Exercise science has evolved tremendously in the past few decades, and so have weight machines. So get an experienced gym employee to do the rounds with you, or consider hiring a personal trainer for a session or two (see tip #9).

Let us say Donkey-A and Donkey-B.
Donkey-A felt it was very energetic and could do better than the other. It always tried to pull the washer man's attraction over it by taking more load and walking fast in front of him.
Innocent Donkey-B is normal, so it will walk normal, irrespective of the washer man's presence. After a period of time, Washer man started pressurizing Donkey-B to be like Donkey-A. But Donkey-B unable to walk fast & got continuous punishment from washer man. It was crying and told personally to Donkey-A "Dear friend, only we two are here, why to compete with each other....we can carry equal load at normal speed ".
That made Donkey-A all the more energetic and next day it told to washer man that it can carry more load and even it can run fast also. Obviously happier washer man looked at Donkey-B.., his BP raised and he started kicking Donkey-B.
Next day with smile, Donkey-A carried more load and started running fast. But it was breathtaking for Donkey-B and it couldn't act that way....But the washer man was frustrated, so he harassed Donkey-B terribly, and finally it fell down hopelessly.
Then Donkey-A felt itself as a supreme and happily started carrying more load with great speed. But now the Load of the Donkey-B is also being carried by Donkey-A., and still it has to run fast. For some period it did, finally due to fatigue it got tired and started feeling the pain. But washer man expected more from Donkey-A. It also tried best, but couldn't cope up with his owners demand. The Washer man got angry with Donkey-A also and started harassing to take more load... Donkey-A was crying for long time and then tried its best... But it couldn't meet the owner's satisfaction.
Finally the day came when due to frustration the washer man killed Donkey-A and went for searching some other Donkeys.
It’s an endless story..........
But the moral of the Story in Corporate and social life is......,
"Think all colleagues are same and that everyone is capable.... Always Share the Load equally..... Don't ever act smart in front of your Boss and never try for getting over-credit...
Don't feel happy when ur colleague is under pressure.."

And most importantly, Never Work Hard, Work Cleverly.....

FITNESS FACTS
Calculating your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) = 220 – Your Age.
Example: For a 20 years old person = 220 – 20 = 200 Beats per minute.
For a 60 years old person = 220 – 60 = 160 Beats per minute.
Intensity of Exercise:-
Scientifically exercise intensity can be calculated based on the Heart Rate. The fitness benefit of an exercise can be related to its intensity. 70% MHR is the general training threshold, in the sense that those who exercise at Heart Rate less than 70% MHR generally do not improve the heart fitness.

Strength Training Exercises:-
Are short term and emphasize building muscle, rather than burning oxygen. Examples include weight lifting, power lifting, sit-ups, push-ups etc. Done several times a week helps building strong bones and muscles and makes everyday chores easier for you. With more muscle, you burn more calories, even at rest.
Flexibility Exercises:-
Also called stretching, help keep your joints flexible and reduce your chances of injury during other activities. Gentle stretching for 10 to 15 minutes a day for 6 days a week helps your body warm up and get ready for aerobic activity.
CALCULATING BODY MASS INDEX(BMI):-
It is useful tool to estimate a healthy body weight based on how tall a person is.
BMI = Weight in Kgs / Height in Cms/ Height in Cms X 10,000.
EXAMPLE:-
For a person weighing 74 Kgs and Height 5Ft 9 Inches (175Cms)
BMI = 74 / 175 / 175 X 10,000 = 24.16
He is in Normal Range.
BMI Weight Status
Less than 14.9 ----- Starvation.
15 – 18.4 ------------ Under Weight.
18.5 – 24.9 ---------- Normal.

Who our best friend is.
I hope you'll be blessed with this as I was.Somewhere in Milaor, Camarines Sur, there lived a fourth grader boy who would follow this route to school everyday: He has to cross the rugged plains and cross the dangerous highway where vehicles are recklessly driving to and fro. Once past this highway, the boy would take a shortcut, passing by the Church every morning just to say Hi to God, and faithfully say his, "Magandang umaga po" in Bicol dialect. He was faithfully being watched by a Priest who was happy to find innocence soup lifting in the morning, "Kamusta, Andoy? Papasok ka na?" "Opo padre... "he would flash his innocent grin, the priest would be touched. He was so concerned that one day he talked to Andoy. "From school...", he advised "Do not cross the highway, you can pass through the Church and Ican accompany you to the other side of the road...that way I can see that you are home safe...." "Thank you father..." "Why don't you go home ... why do you stay in this church rightafter school?" "I just want to say 'Hi' to my friend, God," and the priest would leave the boy to spend time beside the altar, talking to himself, but the priest was hiding behind the altar to listen to what this boy had to say to his heavenly FATHER."You know my math exam was pretty bad today, but I did not cheat although my seatmate is bullying me for notes... I ate one cracker and drank my water, Itay had a bad season and all I can eat is this cracker. Thank you for this! I saw a poor kitten that was hungry and I know how he feels so I gave my last cracker to him ... funny but I am not that hungry. Look, this is my last pair of slippers ...I may have to walk barefoot next week, you see this is about to be broken... but it is okay....at least I am still going to school.... Andoy never failed. Father Agaton shared this every Sunday to the people in his church because he has not seen a very pure faith and trust in God, a very positive look at negative situations.On Christmas day, Father Agaton was sick so he could not make it in the Church; he was sent to the hospital. The Church was left to 4 manangs who would chant the rosary in 1000 miles per hour, would not smile and would always find fault in what you do, they were also very well versed in cursing if you irritate them! They were kneeling, saying their kilometric rosary when Andoy, coming from his Christmas party, playfully dashed in. "Hello God! I ......" "P----!! (a curse) bata ka!! Alam monang may nagdadasal!!Alis!!"Poor Andoy was so terrified, "Where's Father Agaton? He is supposed to help me cross the street ...and to be able to cross the street I will have to pass by the back door of this church not only that, I have to greet Jesus. It is His birthday, I have a gift right here...." Just as he was about to get the gift out of his shirt, the manang pulled his shirt and threw him out of the church. "Susmaryosep!!! (does the sign of the crossfervently) Alis kang bata ka, kung hindi matatamaan ka!!!So the boy had no choice but to cross the dangerous side of the road in front of the church. He crossed. A fast moving bus came in. There was a blind curve. The boy was protecting his gift inside his shirt, so he was not looking. There was so little time.Andoy died on the spot. A lot of people crowded the poor boy, the body of a lifeless young boy ...Suddenly, out of nowhere a tall man in a pure white shirt and pants, a face so mild and gentle, but with eyes full of tears... He came and carried the boy in His arms. He was crying. Curious bystanders nudged the man in white, and asked, "Excuse me sir, are you related to this child? Do you know this child?" The man in white, His face mourning and in agony, looked up and answered, "He was my best friend." was all he said. He took the badly wrapped gift in the bloody chest of the lifeless boy, and placed it near His heart. He stood up and carried the boy away and they both disappeared in sight. The crowd was curious...On Christmas Eve, Father Agaton learned of the shocking news. He visited the house, and wanted to verify about the man in white. He consulted the parents of Andoy. "How did you know that your son died?" "A man in white brought him here." sobbed the mother. "What did he say?" The father answered, "He did not say anything. He was mourning. We do not know him and yet he was very lonely about our son's death, as if he knew our son very well. But there was something peaceful and unexplainable about him. He gave me my son, and then he smiled peacefully. He brushed my son's hair away from his face and kissed him on his forehead, and then he whispered something...""What did he say?" "He said to my boy..." the father began, "Thank you for the gift ... I will see you soon ... you will be with me..." and the father of the boy continued, "and you know for a while, it felt so wonderful ... I cried, but I do not know why....all I know is I cried tears of joy .... I could not explain it, Father, but when that man left, something peaceful came over me, I felt a deep sense of love inside ... I could not explain the joy in my heart, I knew my boy is in heaven now but...tell me, Father, who is this man that my son talks to everyday in your church, you should know because you are always there... except at the time of his death ......

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a Well. The animal cried piteously for hours as The farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the Well needed to be covered up anyway; It just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and Help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began! To shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the Donkey realized what was happening and cried Horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he Quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally Looked down the well.. He was astonished at what He saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his Back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel Dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it Off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey Stepped up over the edge of the well and Happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds Of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well
Is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of Our troubles is a stepping stone. We can
get out Of the deepest wells just by not stopping, Never giving up! Shake it off and
take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
- Free your heart from hatred
- Forgive.
- Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
- Live simply and appreciate what you have.

Insulting Parrot
A lady was walking past a pet store when a parrot said,
"Hey, lady! You're really ugly!"
The lady was angry, but she continued on her way.On the way home,
she passed by the pet store again, and again, the parrot said,
"Hey, lady! You're really ugly!"
Furious, the lady stormed into the store and threatened to sue the store.
The store manager apologized profusely and promised he would make sure the parrot didn't say it again.The next day, she deliberately passed by the store to test the parrot.
"Hey, lady!" it said.
"Yes?"
"You know...."
"Hey, lady! You're really ugly!"

A little boy wanted to meet God.He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and hestarted his journeyWhen he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to takea drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered hima root beer.Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got upto leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, heturned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug.He gave him his biggest smile ever.When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face.She asked him,
