Who's Your Daddy?
A number of years ago a seminary professor was vacationing with
his wife in Gatlinburg, Tennessee where they were eating
breakfast at a little restaurant, hoping to enjoy a quiet family
meal.
While they were waiting for their food, they noticed a
distinguished looking, white-haired man moving from table to
table visiting with the guests. The professor leaned over and
whispered to his wife:
"I hope he doesn't come over here." But sure enough, the man
did come over to their table.
"Where are you folks from?" he asked in a friendly voice.
"Oklahoma," they answered.
"Great to have you here in Tennessee," the stranger said.
"What do you do for a living?"
"I teach at a seminary," he replied.
"Oh, you teach preachers how to preach? Well, I've got a really
great story for you." And with that, the gentleman pulled up a
chair and sat down at the table with the couple.
"See that mountain over there?" (pointing out the restaurant
window). Not far from the base of that mountain, there was a
boy born to an unwed mother. He had a hard time growing up,
because every place he went, he was always asked the same
question:
'Hey boy, Who's your daddy?'
Whether he was at school, in the grocery store or drug store,
people would ask the same question, "Who's your daddy?"
He would hide at recess and lunchtime from other students.
He would avoid going in to stores because that question hurt him
so bad.
When he was about 12 years old, a new preacher came to his
church. He would always go in late and slip out early to avoid
hearing the question, "Who's your daddy?" But one day, the
new preacher said the benediction so fast he got caught and
had to walk out with the crowd.
Just about the time he got to the back door, the new preacher
not knowing anything about him, put his hand on his shoulder and
asked him,
"Son, who's your daddy?"
The whole church got deathly quiet. He could feel every eye in
the church looking at him. By now, everyone knew the answer to
the question, 'Who's your daddy?'
This new preacher, though, sensed the situation around him and
using discernment that only the Holy Spirit could give, said the
following to that scared little boy...
'Wait a minute!' he said, 'I know who you are. I see the family
resemblance now. You are a child of God.'
With that he patted the boy on his shoulder and said:
'Boy, you've got a great inheritance. Go and claim it.'
With that, the boy smiled for the first time in a long time
and walked out the door a changed person. He was never the same
again. Whenever anybody asked him, 'Who's your Daddy?' he'd
just tell them,
'I'm a Child of God.'
The distinguished gentleman got up from the table and said,
"Isn't that a great story?"
The professor responded that it really was a great story!
As the man turned to leave, he said,
"You know, if that new preacher hadn't told me that I was one of
God's children, I probably never would have amounted to
anything!" And he walked away.
The seminary professor and his wife were stunned.
He called the waitress over and asked her,
"Do you know who that man was who just left who was sitting at
our table?" The waitress grinned and said,
"Of course. Everybody here knows him. That's Ben Hooper.
He's the former governor of Tennessee!"

Heart Attack Symptoms: What To Do in Emergency
Heart Attack Symptoms: What To Do in Emergency
Do you know how to recognize heart attack symptoms? A heart attack usually occurs when there is blockage in one of the heart's arteries. This is an emergency that can cause death. It requires quick action. Do not ignore even minor heart attack symptoms. Immediate treatment lessens heart damage and saves lives.
Recognizing Heart Attack Symptoms
Heart attack symptoms vary from person to person. Not all heart attacks begin with the sudden, crushing chest pain that many people picture when they think of a heart attack. In fact, some heart attacks cause no symptoms at all. This is more common in people who have diabetes.

Heart attack symptoms may begin slowly, causing mild pain and discomfort. They can occur at rest or while you're active. Depending on your age, gender, and other medical conditions, symptoms may be more or less severe.
Learn how to recognize heart attack symptoms.
Heart Attack Symptoms and Warning Signs
Common heart attack symptoms and warning signs may include:
•Chest discomfort that feels like pressure, fullness, or a squeezing pain in the center of your chest. It lasts for more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back
•Pain and discomfort that extends beyond your chest to other parts of your upper body, such as one or both arms, back, neck, stomach, teeth, and jaw
•Unexplained shortness of breath, with or without chest discomfort
•Other symptoms, such as cold sweats, nausea or vomiting, lightheadedness, anxiety, indigestion, and unexplained fatigue
Chest pain and discomfort are the most common heart attack symptoms for both men and women. But, women are more likely than men to also experience other symptoms, too. These might include shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting, unexplained extreme fatigue, and neck, shoulder, upper back, or abdominal pain.
What To Do When Heart Attack Symptoms Occur
If you or someone you are with experiences chest discomfort or other heart attack symptoms, call 9-1-1 right away. Do not wait more than 5 minutes to make the call. While your first impulse may be to drive yourself or the heart attack victim to the hospital, it is better to call 9-1-1. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel can begin treatment on the way to the hospital and are trained to revive a person if his heart stops.
If you witness heart attack symptoms in someone and are unable to reach EMS, drive the person to the hospital. If you are experiencing heart attack symptoms, do not drive yourself to the hospital unless you have no other choice.
Many people delay treatment because they doubt they really are having a heart attack. They don't want to bother or worry their friends and family. But, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
Put Time on Your Side
Acting quickly in response to heart attack symptoms can save lives. If given within an hour of the first heart attack symptoms, clot-busting and artery-opening medications can stop a heart attack. Waiting longer than 1-2 hours for treatment can increase damage to the heart and reduce the chances of survival. About half the people who die from heart attacks do so within the first hour after heart attack symptoms begin.
What To Do Before Paramedics Arrive
If you see someone who appears to be having a heart attack, call 9-1-1 right away. Then, follow these steps:
•Try to keep the person calm, and have them sit or lie down.
•If the person is not allergic to aspirin, have them chew and swallow a baby aspirin (It works faster when chewed and not swallowed whole.)
•If the person stops breathing, you or someone else who is qualified should perform CPR immediately. If you don't know CPR, the 9-1-1 operator can assist you until the EMS personnel arrive.

Nobody plans on having a heart attack. It is best to be prepared, just in case. Here are some steps you can take before heart attack symptoms occur:
•Memorize the list of heart attack symptoms and warning signs; remember that you need to call 9-1-1 within 5 minutes of when heart attack symptoms begin.
•Talk to your family and friends about the warning signs and the importance of calling 9-1-1 immediately.
•Know your heart disease risk factors and do what you can to reduce them.
•Create a "heart attack survival plan" that includes information about medicines you are taking, allergies, your doctor's number, and people to contact in case you go to the hospital. Keep this information in your wallet.
•Arrange in advance to have someone care for dependents in the event of an emergency.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
By
Dr.Deepak Chopra,M.D.
1)Begin by finding a quite place where you are not likely to be disturbed.
2)Sit quietly and close your eyes.
3)Inhale and exhale NORMALLY, but gently bring your awareness to your BREATRGHING. Don’t try to CONTROL or ALTER your BREATHING in any conscious way. Simply OBSERVE.
4)As you observe your breath, you may notice it changing, almost by itself. There may be variations in speed rhythm, or depth or your breath may evwen seem to stop for a moment. Again, merely observe all this without trying to cause or influence any changes.
5)You may find your attention drifting away from your breathing now and then. You may think of other things, or you may become aware of noises outside the room. If this occurs, gently return your attention to your breath.
6)If during the meditation you notice that you are focusing on some feeling, mood, or expectation, respond to this as you would to any other thought and gently bring your attention back to your breath.
7)Practice this meditation technique for 15 minutes. At the end of that time, keep your eyes closed and sit easily for 2 or 3 minutes. Allow yourself to come out of the meditation gradually before opening eyes and resume activity.
Practice the above twice each day, in the morning and in the evening. During the practice of meditation you will have one of three experiences.
1)You may feel bored or restless and your mind may fill with thoughts. This is an indication that deep stress and emotions are being set free in your system. By relaxing and continuing the meditation, you can help to remove these influences from your mind and body.
2)You may fall asleep. If this occurs during meditation, it strongly suggests a need for more rest during other times of the day.
3)You may slip into the gap. When the breath becomes very settled and refined, you may enter the space between thoughts - - beyond sound and beyond breath.
By staying rested, maintain good health and devoting a certain amount of time each day to meditation, you can achieve meaningful contact with your inner self. You can come in touch with the cosmic mind, the voice that whispers to you non-verbally, which is always present in the spaces between your thoughts. This is your unlimited inner intelligence, your true and supreme genius, which in turn reflects the wisdom of the universe; nothing is beyond your reach.

God's Plan
Some things are beyond planning.
And life doesn't always turn out as planned.
You don't plan for a broken heart.
You don't plan for a failed business venture.
You don't plan for an adulterous husband
or a wife who wants you out of her life.
You don't plan for an autistic child.
You don't plan for spinsterhood.
You don't plan for a lump in your breast.
You plan to be young forever.
You plan to climb the corporate ladder.
You plan to be rich and powerful.
You plan to be acclaimed and successful.
You plan to conquer the universe.
You plan to fall in love - and be loved forever.
You don't plan to be sad.
You don't plan to be hurt.
You don't plan to be broke.
You don't plan to be betrayed.
You don't plan to be alone in this world.
You plan to be happy. You don't plan to be shattered.
Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want.
But MOST times, what you want and what you get
are two different things.
We, mortals, plan. But so does God in the heavens.
Sometimes, it is difficult to understand God's plans especially
when His plans are not in consonance with ours.
Often, when God sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger.
True, we cannot choose the cross that God wishes us to carry,
but we can carry that cross with courage knowing that God will
never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with.
Sometimes, God breaks our spirit to save our soul.
Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.
Sometimes, God allows pain so we can be stronger.
Sometimes, God sends us failure so we can be humble.
Sometimes, God allows illness so we can take better care of
ourselves. Sometimes, God takes everything away from us
so we can learn the value of everything He gave us.
Make plans, but understand that we live by God's grace.
